Ingredients
For the Fried Tauhu:
•1 block (350 g) firm tofu
•1/4 cup cornstarch
•1/4 tsp salt
•1/4 tsp black pepper
•Cooking oil (for frying)
For the Sweet Soy Sauce Dip:
•1/4 cup soy sauce
•1 tbsp palm sugar (or brown sugar)
•1 tsp minced garlic
•1 red chili, finely sliced (optional for spice)
•1 tbsp lime juice
•1 tbsp water
For Garnish:
•1 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
•1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
Prepare the Tofu:
1.Drain the tofu and pat dry with paper towels. Cut into bite-sized cubes.
2.In a bowl, mix cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until well-coated.
Fry the Tofu:
3.Heat oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
4.Fry the tofu in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy (about 5-7 minutes). Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Make the Sweet Soy Sauce Dip:
5.In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, palm sugar, minced garlic, sliced chili, lime juice, and water. Mix until the sugar is dissolved.
Serve:
6.Arrange the fried tofu on a serving plate. Drizzle some of the sweet soy sauce over the tofu or serve it on the side for dipping. Garnish with cilantro and sesame seeds.
Notes
•Use extra-firm tofu for best results to prevent crumbling.
•Adjust the chili level to suit your spice preference.
•Add a splash of sesame oil to the dip for extra flavor.
