Description
Charley Pride Pie is a rich and indulgent Southern dessert, blending the flavors of a classic pecan pie with chocolate and coconut. Inspired by the legendary country music star Charley Pride, this pie is a sweet and nutty treat that’s perfect for family gatherings, holidays, or any special occasion.
Ingredients
• 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
• 3 large eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup pecan halves
• 1/2 cup shredded coconut
• 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
• 1/2 cup light corn syrup
• 1/4 cup evaporated milk
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan and set aside.
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, salt, corn syrup, and evaporated milk until smooth.
3. Stir in the pecans, shredded coconut, and chocolate chips.
4. Pour the mixture into the prepared pie crust and spread evenly.
5. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
6. Let the pie cool completely before slicing. Serve on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
• For extra flavor, toast the pecans before adding them to the filling.
• To prevent the crust from browning too quickly, cover the edges with aluminum foil while baking.
• Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
