Description
This soft and buttery braided brioche is filled with sweet chocolate chips, making it a delightful breakfast or dessert bread. Perfectly golden and slightly crisp on the outside, with a rich and tender crumb!
Ingredients
• 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
• ¼ cup granulated sugar
• 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
• ½ tsp salt
• ½ cup warm milk (110°F)
• 3 large eggs
• ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
• 1 cup mini chocolate chips
• 1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
1. Activate yeast by mixing warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit until foamy.
2. Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Add yeast mixture and eggs, mixing until combined.
3. Knead in butter gradually until smooth and elastic.
4. Fold in chocolate chips.
5. Cover and let dough rise for 2 hours.
6. Divide into three sections and braid the dough.
7. Let rise again for 45 minutes.
8. Brush with egg wash and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
9. Cool before serving.
Notes
• Use bread flour for a chewier texture.
• Swap chocolate chips for dried fruit or nuts for variation.
• Best served fresh but can be lightly toasted the next day.
