Description
Crispy, golden pita stuffed with spiced ground beef or lamb, these Middle Eastern Arayes are easy to make and packed with flavor. Perfect as an appetizer or main dish, they pair beautifully with yogurt or tahini sauce.
Ingredients
For the Arayes:
•4 medium pita breads, cut in halves
•1 lb ground beef or lamb
•1 small onion, finely chopped
•2 cloves garlic, minced
•1/4 cup parsley, finely chopped
•1 tsp ground cumin
•1 tsp ground coriander
•1/2 tsp paprika
•1/2 tsp cinnamon
•1/2 tsp black pepper
•1/2 tsp salt
•1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)
For Serving (Optional):
•Yogurt or tahini sauce
•Pickles
•Fresh salad
Instructions
1.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) or heat a grill pan over medium heat.
2.In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef (or lamb) with onions, garlic, parsley, and spices. Mix well.
3.Cut each pita in half and fill with a thin layer of the meat mixture.
4.Brush the outside of each pita with olive oil.
5.Bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy. (Alternatively, grill for 3-4 minutes per side.)
6.Serve warm with yogurt or tahini sauce. Enjoy!
Notes
•For extra crispiness, cook in a pan with a little oil.
•Add chili flakes for a spicy kick.
•Can be made ahead and reheated in the oven.
